   Invisible Braces" or "Clear Braces" or "Clear Aligners" are often all called Invisalign and are replacements for traditional braces, which use wires and brackets. The brand "Invisalign" is so named to describe "Invisibly Aligning" or straightening your teeth.  They are "invisible" or "clear" so they are minimally noticeable while you wear them to straighten your teeth, which is why they are also known as "Invisible Braces."   Invisible Braces are tight, well-fitting, plastic trays that sit directly over the teeth. Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks and moves the teeth gradually, improving the overall look of your smile.  Every 2 weeks a new aligner is used until the desired tooth movement is achieved. Most Invisible Braces cases take 15-25 aligners and the treatment is accomplished in 7-12 months. Invisible Braces are great for mild to moderate crowding or spacing.  Invisible Braces are fabricated for dentists by several companies such as Invisalign, ClearCorrect, Dandy, and 6 Month Smiles to name a few. For severe crowding, we do offer a more traditional type of braces using ceramic brackets and white wires to make them as unnoticeable as possible and these are often referred to as  "Cosmetic Braces" or "6 Month Braces." 

Once you have decided to improve your smile with Invisible Braces, we need to get some information.  This is all obtained in what we call the "records appointment."  Needed information at his visit include pre-ortho photographs of your teeth, molds or impressions of your teeth, and any needed radiographs.  This visit takes about 45 minutes. These records are then sent to have your aligners fabricated. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for the aligners to be made.

Woo-Hoo!   Time to start creating your beautiful Smile!  This visit usually takes less than an hour.  Your first set of invisible aligners are tried in and given to you.  We discuss aligner care and how to be the most successful while you do aligner therapy.  One of the advantages of using Kaysville Smiles to straighten your teeth versus "Do it Yourself" or aligner treatment from companies like "Smile Direct Club" or "Byte" is that sometimes aligners alone are not sufficient to move your teeth.  Sometimes small "buttons" or "attachments" need to be placed on the front of teeth that need to be rotated significantly more than other teeth.  Without these buttons, these more crooked teeth will not move as desired or as efficiently. If any "buttons" are needed to give you an optimal outcome, we will place these on at this appointment.  These buttons also allow the aligner to stay on your teeth better and improve the straightening process and are made out of the same material used for white fillings, are tooth colored, hardly noticeable, and taken off at the end of treatment.  No anesthetic is needed to attach "buttons."  "Do It Yourself" aligner companies cannot provide this service which can lead to not straightening your teeth as well.

Additionally - sometimes our teeth are a little too crowded and we need to slenderize front teeth with special floss by 0.1 mm or so (width of a hair) in order to give the space for your teeth to fit.  This is also not possible through a "mail order" aligner company.

2 weeks later will be your first "follow-up" visit. At each follow-up visit we check how well the aligner fits and make sure the teeth are moving as desired.  We will now give you the next 2 sets of aligners and you will be in charge of changing them yourself after 2 weeks.  After 4 weeks you will see us again and repeat the process until treatment is complete!  Each monthly follow-up visit only takes 15-20 minutes.
